Solution will offer higher capacity connectivity to businesses and residents in Angola
Lod, Israel — April 30, 2014 — Telrad Networks, a global provider of innovative 4G wireless and telecommunications solutions, today announced that Multitel will deploy Telrad’s future-ready, 4G solutions to evolve their network from fixed WiMAX to TD-LTE, for a growing base of enterprise and residential subscribers throughout Angola.
Since 2006, Multitel has offered a variety of broadband services (VPN and Internet) on its 3.5 GHz WiMAX network to a primarily corporate customer base, including small and medium businesses, government agencies and universities. Leveraging Telrad’s turnkey suite of 4G solutions, Multitel will be able to expand its offerings to the small office/home office (SOHO) market with data, voice and video services enabled by a significantly increased capacity network.
The BreezeCOMPACT 2000 base station, combined with Telrad’s CPE solutions, will help set a path for Multitel to smoothly evolve their network from fixed WiMAX to LTE. Telrad’s dual-technology base station has a unique software radio design (SDR), which allows a seamless, software-only migration from WiMAX to LTE. The high-power Radio Access Network (RAN) device is ideal for longer-range connectivity and for Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) areas.
“We’re very excited to bring Telrad’s advanced technology to our region,” said António Geirinhas, CEO of Multitel. “Telrad has helped us with a strategic plan to upgrade our system in a way that leverages our current equipment, while taking carefully planned, continuous steps toward LTE. Our upgraded network offers scalability that will help us expand our customer base, increase customer satisfaction and maximize our return on investment.”
Ran Bukshpan, CEO at Telrad, added, “Telrad is excited to work with Multitel to expand its services within Angola. This upgrade reaffirms our expertise as well as our commitment to LTE in the African market, offering WiMAX today and LTE in the future.”
Multitel has been an Alvarion customer for many years with the BreezeMAX infrastructure already in the field. The addition of Telrad’s solutions, the next generation of innovation following BreezeMAX, is a natural progression option that works seamlessly with the existing network components, as they migrate from 802.16d to 802.16e, and then to LTE.
Telrad solutions, operating in the sub-6 GHz bands, offer reliable 4G wireless broadband connectivity and future-proof software-upgradeable to LTE features. With maximum coverage and capacity, operators maintain more efficient, cost-effective networks that deliver an optimal user experience to fixed users as well as those on the move.
