Overcoming connectivity challenges that competitor 4G vendors failed to address
Cape Town, South Africa (PRWEB) November 11, 2014
Telrad Networks, a global provider of innovative 4G wireless and telecom solutions, today announced that pan-Africa telecoms operator, Gondwana International Networks company, (iWayAfrica), will deploy Telrad’s Dual Mode solutions to evolve their network from fixed WiMAX to TD-LTE. Working with Telrad, iWayAfrica will bring enhanced connectivity to their growing base of business subscribers in Nairobi – with aggressive plans to expand into their remaining Sub-Saharan coverage area.
Since 2008, iWayAfrica has offered a variety of broadband services (VPN and Internet) on its WiMAX network to a primarily corporate customer base, including small, medium and large businesses. Leveraging Telrad’s turnkey suite of 4G solutions, iWayAfrica will be able to enhance its existing Internet service offerings, enabling significantly increased capacity and coverage.
Telrad’s BreezeCOMPACT 1000 base stations, combined with dual mode CPEs, will help set a path for iWayAfrica to smoothly evolve their network from fixed WiMAX to TD-LTE. Telrad’s unique software defined radio (SDR) enables a seamless, software-only migration from WiMAX to LTE.
“We’re very excited to bring Telrad’s advanced technology to our region,” said Ken Munyi, Managing Director of iWayAfrica Kenya. “Telrad has helped us with a master plan to upgrade our system in a way that leverages our current network, while taking strategic steps toward LTE. Our upgraded network offers scalability that will help us increase customer satisfaction, expand our customer base and maximize our return on investment.”
“Telrad solutions will complement iWayAfrica’s portfolio by bringing scalability and reliability, allowing them to satisfy their growing customer demand,” said Ran Bukshpan, CEO at Telrad. With vast experience in the telecommunications market, iWayAfrica is recognized as a leading wireless operator in Africa and will be a key partner to Telrad Networks in proliferating high-quality connectivity in communities that currently lack it.”
iWayAfrica has been an Alvarion customer for many years with BreezeMAX infrastructure. The addition of Telrad’s solutions represents a natural progression that works seamlessly with existing network components, as iWayAfrica migrates from 802.16d to 802.16e, and then to LTE.
Telrad Networks is showcasing their newest TD-LTE products at Africa’s premier telecom show, AfricaCom, November 12-14, Booth #F13.
