Telrad’s BreezeCOMPACT solves NLOS issues and provides foundation for Wisper’s ambitious future
Lod, Israel – January 22, 2014 — Telrad Networks, a global provider of innovative 4G wireless and telecom solutions, today announced that Wisper ISP, one of the nation’s largest Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and former “WISP of the Year” recipient from the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), has signed a Master Purchase Agreement with Telrad valued at $2.3 million dollars. The new partnership will allow Wisper to deploy LTE technology – in the 2.5 and 3.65 GHz frequency bands – throughout its coverage area in the greater St. Louis, Missouri and Southern Illinois regions.
Following an internal analysis, Wisper learned that 60% of people calling in for service could not be connected due to Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) issues, which were also resulting in expensive service calls and reduced revenues. A competitive analysis revealed that Telrad was the only vendor that could effectively address these NLOS problems, which had severely hampered the company’s ability to grow organically.
After beta testing, Telrad’s BreezeCOMPACT solution demonstrated the most dramatic improvement in network performance and connectivity, due in part to its advanced antenna features, such as 4×4 MIMO and high sensitivity. The product’s Software-Defined Radio platform will allow the company to scale its growth without a hardware replacement, and take advantage of LTE’s expanding capabilities over time.
Said Wisper’s CEO, Nathan Stooke, “For a company focused on customer service excellence, our inability to connect so many folks who wanted our services was a major source of frustration for us. We could see that LTE was coming, and we could either chart our own course for the future or get run over by the competition.”
Stooke currently serves as board chairman for the WISPA. In this role, he is a strong advocate for the WISP community and often mentors other WISPs with regards to business operations and technology. He added, “Telrad is providing a foundation for our future growth by enabling us to access a larger customer base with services second to none.”
“Wisper is arguably the most discerning of operators in the U.S., with a management focus on data measurement, quality of service and outcomes,” said Chris Daniels, General Manager of North America for Telrad. “Earning an agreement of this magnitude with one of the industry’s leading WISPs makes a statement about both Telrad as a team and BreezeCOMPACT as a solution.”
Telrad solutions offer reliable 4G wireless broadband connectivity with future-proof software defined platform, the first for multipoint solutions, in commonly used WISP frequencies. This enables operators to drastically increase capacity and service offerings over time, without costly hardware upgrades.
