Leveraging high-power LTE technology to increase subscriber speeds, supporting bandwidth-demanding applications
Louisville, Kentucky – WISPAmerica 2016 – March 16, 2016 — Telrad Networks, global provider of TD-LTE broadband solutions, today announced that Amarillo Wireless, a Texas-based Internet service provider, has been expanding its broadband network with Telrad LTE technology, delivering higher Internet speeds to the Texas panhandle area.
Telrad technology enables Amarillo Wireless to increase their coverage area, add new subscribers and better serve their existing customer base. A few key features influenced Amarillo Wireless in choosing Telrad’s standards-based LTE solution, including its affordable and scalable EPC, the advanced software-defined radio (SDR) base station capability, which allows for software-only upgrades, and the ability to overcome non-line-of-sight challenges.
Amarillo Wireless provides service to residences and businesses, covering large areas of the Texas Panhandle, including Amarillo, Canyon, and Dumas in a 3857 square-mile region. The service provider’s network is built to deliver highly reliable wireless connectivity. Using licensed frequency-band and fiber-optic links, Amarillo Wireless feeds their towers with dependable backhaul. The Telrad solution compliments the backhaul by continuing a powerful signal that penetrates through thick tree density, which would otherwise obstruct Line-of-Sight (LOS) paths to the customer premises.
“Amarillo Wireless is proud to announce that in conjunction with Telrad we have deployed the first 4G LTE Fixed Wireless Internet service in the Texas Panhandle,” said Matthew Carpenter, President and Co-Owner of Amarillo Wireless. “With the power and reliability that LTE provides, we can now service customers in Amarillo, Canyon, and Dumas with higher speeds. Also, trees, which once blocked wireless signals, are no longer an issue. The new Telrad 4G LTE equipment can bust through trees and get through to many more customers.”
“Amarillo has been facing the same challenges that many of our rural Internet service provider customers do – how to reach customers in a large rural area, with high capacity services, while overcoming tree and topology challenges, all while keeping costs low,” stated Chris Daniels, Vice President and Regional GM of North America for Telrad. “We offer Amarillo Wireless, and other rural service providers, a high performance, standards-based, cost-effective solution based on our flagship and award-winning BreezeCOMPACT Base Station. Our LTE solution is specifically designed for fixed broadband, and the smaller footprint, lower power consumption and lower total cost of ownership makes it an obvious choice. We’re happy to serve Amarillo Wireless and their customers while helping drive growth in the region.”
Telrad solutions, operating in the sub-6 GHz bands, offer reliable 4G wireless broadband connectivity. With maximum coverage and capacity, operators maintain more efficient, cost-effective networks that deliver an optimal user experience. Telrad is presenting its solutions this week at the WISPAmerica exhibition in Louiville, Kentucky.
